Creative Ways to Remind Yourself

Try using other ways to remind yourself of tasks (sticky notes, bright posters, and crazy reminders) for those times when you want to go beyond a standard list and want to get more…creative!

Here's a few ways to remind yourself how to get stuff done WITHOUT a to-do list.  (I know, right!  Gasp!)  Some of these ideas may really work for you, but I know everyone is different, so take and leave what you may.  Are ya ready?  Here we go!

Practical Tips {in order of effectiveness}:

- Display objects pertaining to the chore!  Let's say you have to clean the vanity.  Put out the cleaners on a prominent place (like the kitchen island) and you'll be reminded to clean.  Or, as another example, if you have to do laundry, put out the laundry soap in a visible place (maybe even on your desk!).

- Sticky notes!  Post little notes with images or pictures anywhere you need to be reminded.  Better opt for the bright ones so you see 'em!

- Pictures!  Draw pictures of what you need to do, and put them on your desk or fridge.  You won't forget once you have a bright and blaring poster glaring at you.

- Email a friend! Accountability really works.  By letting a friend know your to-do's, you'll be held more accountable.  Ask you friend to check up on you later.  This can be more potent and powerful then a to-do list, because you have that accountability keeping you to the task.

- Use a timer!  If you need to go vacuum in twenty minutes, set your timer, and when it beeps, you'll remember.

- Get someone to remind you {without having to nag you}!  Hearing the reminder from someone else is usually helpful.  This one takes a bit of discipline, as you don't want to have the person continually nagging you.  The first time you hear the reminder, get up and DO the task.  Don't wait around and say "Later".  {This is the last resort tip, and for good reason.}  I suggest you try the other tips first, because depending on your attitude, this may not be as effective :)
