Here is how to make a cute and fashionable belt in less than 20 minutes.

Tutorial: Easy Belt | Estimated Time: 20 Minutes | Level: Easy | Materials: Minimal

The Cutsie Belt Tutorial

Let's get started. You will need the following:A needle for hand sewing. (Yes, you'll be able to practice your lovely hand sewing skills now!)

Pins

Fabric of your choice

Your sewing machine, of course! And I'm not saying it has to be antique.... but antique machines are so pretty to sew on! :) LOL

A spool of thread, either in a white  or basic color, or a color that matches your fabric.

 Agood pair of fabric scissors.

An iron. That has steam.

Now let's get cutting.

Begin by cutting your fabric into one long strip, about double the length of your waist, and roughly triple the width you prefer for your belt.  (A good width would probably be 4 inches, since when we fold it over, it will be 2 inches).

Then, fold your sash piece in half right sides together.  Pin.  Sew, leaving a small opening for turning.  It can be really helpful to use pins to remind you where to leave the opening.

When you are done sewing together, trim your corners, as it will be less bulky.

 Press with an iron.

Turn your sash piece inside out at the opening.

Using a needle and thread, sew up the small hole opening as invisibly as possible.

We're done!

This sash looks really cute on top of a t-shirt, or a dress, and adds flair to plain shirts.

The sash can be tied either at the front or the back in a cute ribbon.

Tied onto a skirt looks really cute!
