The Startling Power of Two Words

I was serving the meal at camp to young and old, little boys, toddlers, young ladies, men, grandpas, great grandmas, and everyone in between. I made a game with myself to see how many times these two simple words were said. I wanted to see who said the words with a smile - and was truly thankful.

And you know what I found?  Only about ten people, out of the hundreds that I served, said thank you.  I couldn't believe it!! And it reminded me of the story in the Bible where Jesus healed many people, but only one came back to thank Him.  That's when it struck me.  Why am I not more thankful?  I want to be a good example - and one way to do that is by being grateful and thankful, and by saying those two simple words:

THANK YOU!

These two simple words go a long way in being polite and respectful.  This is called manners.

Your assignment for this week~ Try and remember to say thank you as much as you can.  Thank your parents for meals they feed you...your violin teacher for teaching you violin...your brother for making your bed...when you are praying to God thank Him for things...etc.  See how many times you can say thank you, and really mean it!  Giving thanks is a Biblical command - we are told to "give thanks in everything".  Say "thank you!"
