Non fiction, fiction, devotional books, magazine articles, blog posts...it really doesn't matter to me. I just LOVE to write. I love alot of other things too. But writing ranks pretty high on my list. Now I know there are some people who despise writing and try to avoid it at all costs. I'm here to tell you that that's totally okay. Though I wish everyone saw the blessings and joys of being "mighty in the pen", I'm here to say that you don't have to enjoy writing. Just because I enjoy it, your mom loves it, and your writing teacher is enthusiastic about writing, doesn't mean you must enjoy it too. Maybe God has blessed you with a talent in some other area. Maybe He has given you another way to reach the unsaved with the Gospel. Because, hey, that's our ultimate goal, right? To glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever. And reaching the unsaved, building up His kingdom, and going out and blessing other people (who are made in the image of God) definitley fit in with that chief end of ours.

We all have different things we are gifted at. The Bible talks about the many different gifts we have...speaking in public, writing, cooking, hospitality, the gift of compassion...and then there are some sports people are good at, including soccer, volleyball; some people are amazing at art (not me!), learning new languages, running, memorizing defitions, and math...and while some people like drawing, others are very good at basketball, some are wonderful seamstresses, and the list goes on and on. Everyone has a gift!

In the book of Romans we read: "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them!" It really does not matter what particular thing we are gifted at...one thing we know for sure: we are supposed to use our gifts. Why? Should we strengthen our talents so that people can pat us on the back and give us the glory? No way! Instead, we need to give all the glory to Christ.

1 Peter 4:10 tells us, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

Where do these talents and gifts come from? Of course, they come down from the Father of Lights! 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 explains that no matter what gift we have been given, it is all from our Father above: “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.”

Don't hide your gifts. Instead, go out and use your gift to bless others! And, wow!! That's an AMAZING privilege we've been given. We are told in God's Word to use our gifts, to use them to strengthen His kingdom. To spread the Good News. To encourage others in the Lord.

And remember, it doesn't matter if you win a high gold in diving, a scholarship in art, or an award in math. One thing is certain: Always direct all the glory to the Father above, who so mercifully bestows upon us all these good gifts!!! Praise Him.
