GIRLS LIKE YOU: Sarah, 15, had been a Christian all her life. But recently, she had gotten into a "prayer rut". It wasn't that she didn't want to pray - it was that she honestly didn't know how! But Sarah was way too embarrased to ask her pastor or parents, so she just continued doing what she always did: taking a second at night and mumbling, "God, thank you for today...help ____ to get better." Sadly, Sarah was missing out on real prayer! Annie, 13, liked to pray -- but she was so easily distracted during prayer time. Her mind floated to the homework she had to finish, the piano she had to practice, and emailing her friend. Annie so desperately wanted to keep her mind focused, but it seemed impossible! Kaitlyn, 16, was a young lady who loved to pray! She prayed for all of her family members and spent hours asking for personal requests. Kaitlyn was a fantastic prayer warrior, except ... she was totally missing out on the "worship, confession, and thankfulness" part of prayer. If she would simply add this dimension to her prayer life, she would make a good prayer warrior. Abby, 15, was a busy girl with a busy life. She found no time to pray, because (sadly) she was simply too busy. Oh how she longed to commune with her Father! But something was stopping her - busyness. Little did she know that she ESPECIALLY needed to pray during those busy days!

Do you find yourself like one of these girls? Each of these girls had one thing in common. Each of them had a desire to pray (at least a bit of one), yet something stopped them. If we truly desire to be girls after God's own heart, we must make this a habit in our own lives! It's all too easy to give up on prayer when we don't know how. But we must persevere. Satan is trying to tempt us to believe we aren't "good" enough to come into God's presence, or we don't deserve to talk to God. He wants us to believe that we are just too busy, our minds are too distracted so why try, and in general, the Devil wants us to believe we just shouldn't pray at all. But we must pray. If we want to grow in our spiritual walks, prayer is an absolute must! Do not let anything or anyone ever make you feel as though you aren't a good enough pray-er. Ask God to teach you how to pray! Start off by reading the Lord's prayer in the Bible so you can know how to pray. Pray through the Lord's prayer - the greatest example of prayer ever. Don't just make requests; worship and praise God, and confess any wrongs. Try to not get distracted (go to a quiet room). And most of all, make time for prayer. Never think you are too insignficant for God. He loves you, and He loves when you talk to Him! It's a must, girls! Never underestimate the power of prayer. It changes lives!
