Habits for the Schoolyear: Healthy Living

If we want to have strong, healthy bodies, we need to learn to eat healthy and do some simple healthy habits.  I am going to share with you 3 things you can do right now to start your journey to good health.

1.  Limit Sweets!  (enough said!)  I know this is so very obvious (isn't that what we are always told to do!).  But it is so important.  Now notice my choice of words.  Did I say have no sweets?  No, I didn't!  Instead I said to limit sweets.  So instead of having 5 goodies a day, try to slowly reduce your sweets intake.  Set an achievable goal, and write it out!  I find it always helps to write out my goals.  A sample goal could be:  I will eat 4 sweets per week and no more.  Or, I won't have pop for 1 whole month.  Or, I promise not to have sugary cereal for 3 weeks.  

2. Drink more water!  This is so, so, so important.  If you want tips on how to drink more, see my other post by clicking here: A Nation Deprived It offers lots of valuable tips on how to get in your 6-8 glasses of water a day.  Try to keep a checklist of how much water you have per day (it will help motivate you to drink more).  I posted my checklist on my fridge and whenver I had a glass I would do a checkmark.

3. Get Excercising! Make sure you are getting enough excercise.  For the past several weeks, my mom and I (and usually some of my siblings) will go jogging in the early morning. I love those early morning jogs since it's so fresh outside.  So make a habit of getting in 30 minutes of excercise a day, whether that be by walking around the block, jogging, jumping rope (although please don't try jumping rope for a half hour - you may get a blood clot!), circuit training in your backyard (do different stations such as skipping rope, jumping jacks, running in place, stretching, etc.), or playing sports.
