Well, since my roots are in Holland, I would tell you about a dutch recipe that our family enjoys.

Story:

One day around Christmas when we made a batch of oliebollen, my sister took one and began dipping it in icing sugar. What she had forgot is that that day we had been baking other goodies, and for some reason, the corn starch [which we kept in an identical container as the icing sugar] had been left on the counter, which was now what she was dipping her oliebollen in.

As soon as it met her mouth, she noticed the difference immediately. She told us the stuff dried up all the moisture in her mouth, so she ran to the sink to get a drink of water. Just then Mommy walked into the room and began to do the same thing. My sisters mouth was still dry from the corn starch, and she could not speak a warning in time. In a few seconds, mommy was getting a drink as well. It must have been quite a hilarious sight, but in no time at all, all was well.

About Holland:

Holland [otherwise known as the Netherlands] is a very small country. It is only 2,000 square miles, and yet it has the population of a little less than 17,000,000. A favorite Christmas recipe of the Dutch is Oliebollen, sort of like a doughnut.
