A lot of people ask me how we manage gift-giving for Christmas in an extended family of 18 people. That may not seem like a lot of people, but when it comes to gift giving, it is. We have 10 kids in that extended family. Of course most people have way more cousins then that but every year we try and figure out a new way to do gift giving. We always strive to focus on blessing the other person, not the receiving factor of it all.
Just this year we have tried out a make it, re-gift it, or find it gift exchange. No buying gifts allowed! When I first heard that idea I thought, "Whoa -- that's gonna be awfully hard!" Yes, it's hard. But it really makes you realize the importance of the other person. The thought of blessing someone with what you have or made outweighs the hardship of making/gifiting/finding something. Nothing can be bought - everything needs to be made, regifted or found.
May your Holidays be filled with hope, love, and blessings!
