Dear precious readers,

I need a retreat from the kitchen.  My sister's birthday is today, and the party is tomorrow.  So why I am frustrated? Mostly because the "cake" I was making for my sister's birthday just flopped.  I'm overwhelmed, frustrated, and overly tired.  But, I remember the verse: "They will run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint..." from Isaiah.  Even though I may be sober because my cake didn't turn out, what's a cake anyway?  Though our earthly problems may seem huge, if we look at the heavens it sort of shrinks them down to size.  Are you dealing with a family situation or a loss?  Maybe just something that may seem huge but really isn't (like I am)?  Did your cake flop?  Did your knitting come unravelled?  Did your book get ripped?  Go outside and look at the stars.  They are amazing.  It really does shrink your problems, amazingly, and it helps you get closer to God.  After all, if God cares for the stars so much that he brings them out every night and calls them by name (which he does), then doesn't he love and care for us SO much more?!!  Encourage someone else by sending them this post; I think they will appreciate it.  Maybe I'm writing this mostly for me, but it seems timely for everyone.  Like the familiar hymn says: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will go strangely dim in the light of His glory and face.

God will bless you as you endeavour to serve Him!
